Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?+

No. Conversion happens entirely inside your browser and your file is never sent anywhere.

No. Your original stays untouched — you download a new converted file.

What about archiving in high quality?+

Keep the FLAC as your archive copy, and convert to MP3 only for devices and sharing.

Is there a file size limit?+

No server limits. Typical music files are effortless, and desktops handle files up to hundreds of MB.

Can I pick a different output format?+

Yes — on the converter you can switch the output between MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A and OGG.

Guide

Why convert FLAC to MP3?

FLAC sounds perfect but the files are huge — too heavy for phones, car stereos, MP3 players or messengers. Converting to MP3 shrinks them by 80–90% while staying playable virtually everywhere.

It's the go-to conversion for distributing recordings exported from audio gear or editing software.

What happens to quality and size?

MP3 is lossy, but at 192kbps and above most listeners can't tell it from the original. This tool converts at a generous bitrate by default, and you can go up to 320kbps.

The size drop is dramatic: a 3-minute FLAC file over 30MB becomes 4–5MB as 192kbps MP3.
